Desolace is a grey wasteland in the Kalimdor. There is a mountain range in the north named the Stonetalon Mountains, the Molgore in the east and Feralas in the south. The west part is surrounded by sea. This location has an abundant supply of gold and you can mine gold, silver, and iron there.

Night Elf Race
Night elves are one of the first races you can choose in WoW. They were the original inhabitants of Kalimdor, making their home in Ashenvale Forest. Night elves are proficient with bows and magic. You can choose Night Elf as your first race in WoW Classic. They are strong at night and they have a lot of advantages over other races.
If you are using the Night Elf race, you must be wandering in Ashenvale Forest (18-30) or Stonetalon Mountains (15-27).
Now, to reach the Charred Vale, head towards the South-West part of the Stonetalon Mountains.
If you want to enter Windshear Crag in Stonetalon Mountains from Ashenvile Forest, follow the Talon Deep path on the South-West.
From here, move southeast to Sunrock Retreat and then go northeast along the road to Charred Vale.
Gnomes & Dwarves
If you are using the Gnomes or Dwarves, it is best to leave Ironforge and travel northeast to Dun Morogh. Take the trail north into Wetlands.
When you’ve reached the Wetlands, follow the road to the west. You’ll find Menethil Harbor just north of Menethil Bay. A boat leaves from the harbor that will take you to Auberdine.
You want to get to the Ashenvile Forest in the south, and then use the same route back.
Human Race
If you have unlocked the human race, go to Stormwind and walk towards The Dwarven District. Then take the Deeprun Tram to Ironforge in Dun Morogh.
Deeprun Tram is an underground subway system that connects Ironforge to Stormwind.
If you follow the same path by the Gnomes or Dwarves, you will end up in Menethil Harbor and then head to Auberdine in Darkshore.
Horde Race
Now, let me tell you how to get to Desolace as a member of the Horde. First, you will need to head to Undercity in the Eastern Kingdoms. A zeppelin can be found nearby at Brill in Undercity that will take you to Orgrimmar in Kalimdor.
From Greatwood Vale, now go to Barrens in South-West and then enter Stonetalon Mountains in North-West from there. Now take the path to Sunrock Retreat and then enter Charred Vale. This path will get you to Desolace.
How To Get To Desolace As Alliance?
Fly to Theramore Isle in Dustwallow Marsh and then take a ship to Menethil Harbor in Wetlands. From there, head south until you see the road to Stranglethorn Vale. Follow the road south until you see the road that leads east to Desolace.
How To Get Into Desolace As Horde?
Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Undercity and then head west until you hit Hammerfall. Head north through Arathi Highlands until you reach the road leading north into Hillsbrad Foothills. Once in Hillsbrad, follow the road east into The Hinterlands. When you get to Hinterlands, follow the road north into Searing Gorge. In Searing Gorge, follow the road east until it splits north and south; follow it south until you reach Tanaris.
